President:

David Verdoni

David Verdoni is currently a senior at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida pursuing a BA in Music Education.  He plans to stay in Florida and teach choir at the secondary level.  He has served on the FCMENC executive board as awards chair and most recently as President-Elect and is honored to serve this year as President.  He is a member of the FMEA board of directors and is also a member of the Florida Vocal Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Orchestra Association, Florida Elementary Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association.  He is excited to continue his work with FCMENC in its mission to providing pre-professional development to Florida’s future music educators.      

 

President Elect:

 

Nicholas Casiano

Nicholas Casiano is currently the president-elect of FCMENC. He currently attends the University of Miami and is persuing a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and Music Theory and Composition. He is a native Floridian and has several years of experience teaching String Orchestra, Keyboard, Choir, and ESE-Reading in the Dade County and Monroe Public School System.

 

Past-President:

Brent Mounger

A native of Titusville, Brent Mounger held the position as President of the Florida Collegiate Music Educator’s National Conference since July of 2006, following his term as President-Elect in 2005. As President of FCMENC he served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Music Educator’s Association and has been published in the Florida Music Director. Brent Mounger has conducted the Sinfonia Men’s Choir at Stetson University since January of 2006. He has lead the group in performances around Central Florida and in the annual American Composers Concert held at Stetson University every spring. In the fall of 2003 he began conducting the Brass Ensemble at Stetson and continued through the fall of 2004. In 2005 he founded the University Chamber Winds, an ensemble of woodwind students created to advance the performers abilities and expand their repertoire. He currently is teaching in Miami, Florida

 

 

 

Secretary:

David Wing

Originally from Brookfield, Wisconsin, David is a Senior Music Education Major at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. He will be graduating in Dec 08 with an emphasis in instrumental music in Middle and High School. This is David’s second year on the FCMENC Executive Board as Secretary. He is also the Vice President of his CMENC Chapter at Southeastern. His principle instrument is trumpet and is a very active at Southeastern and in the community. He is in the Wind Ensemble, the Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra and the Brass Quintet at SEU. He also plays in the pit orchestras for most Southeastern productions. He is also an active church musician as well. David’s professional memberships include MENC, FMEA, FBA, NBA (National Band Assoc.) and the ITG (International Trumpet Guild).

 

Treasurer:

Jessica Stearn

 

Jessica is currently a junior at Stetson University and is pursuing an undergraduate degree in music education. She performs in the University Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Hatter Pep Band, and saxophone chamber ensembles. Jessica is not only active in her school and state chapters of CMENC, but is also a member of the National Band Association and Sigma Alpha Iota.

 

Parliamentarian/ Historian:

Joshua Autrey

 

Joshua Autrey is a junior, Instrumental Music Education Major, at The Florida State University.  His main instrument in ensembles is the clarinet, but he also plays trumpet and saxophone for fun in his spare time.  Besides serving as the Parliamentarian/Historian on the FCMENC Executive Board and serving as an active member of the Florida State CMENC Chapter, he is also very involved with The Marching Chiefs, Seminole Sound basketball pep band, and the University Concert Band.  Joshua is an active member of Gamma Nu Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, an organization dedicated to serving the college of music at FSU and the bands at schools.

 

Membership Chair:

 

Amanda Molé

Amanda Molé is a Univeristy of South Florida senior majoring in music education. She has played clarinet in the symphony band, pep band, marching band, and show band, and has sung in the Univeristy Singers mixed choir. In addition to her music studies, Amanda is also an Honors College student, and is currently researching musical behavior and emotional responses to music for her senior thesis. Amanda is also currently serving as secretary for the USF chapter of CMENC and president of the USF chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, the International Music Fraternity for Women.

 

Adovocacy Chair:

 

Morgan Burburan

Morgan Burburan is a senior at the University of South Florida, and will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education with an emphasis in voice in 2007.  After graduation she will pursue a teaching career in secondary choral education.  In addition to serving as the Advocacy Chair for FCMENC, she currently serves as immediate Past-President of the USF chapter of CMENC and is excited to see that chapter flourishing. Morgan is a passionate advocate for fine arts education, and serves as a member of the Hernando County Fine Arts Council, where one of her duties is to be a liaison between the Arts Council and the School Board.  Morgan regularly performs in Hernando County as a soloist in churches, as well as in local events such as the annual United Way Telethon, and performs with the Hernando County Symphony.  Morgan is a member of CMENC, FMEA, ACDA, FBA, and FVA.  She has been married to her wonderful husband Eric for 8 years, and they have three beautiful children, Katherine, Nikolai, and Conner.

 

Awards Chair:

Holly Stein


Holly Stein is a senior at the University of South Florida, and will graduate in the Fall of 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education with an emphasis in piano.  She has been teaching both piano and voice for the past 5 years and plans to pursue a teaching career in elementary education.  Holly feels privileged to have served as the 2006-2007 Secretary of CMENC at the University of South Florida. She is also very involved in performing all over Hillsborough County in places such as The Strawberry Festival, Devil Ray games, as well as leading worship at local churches.  Holly is very honored to be serving as this year’s Awards Chair for FCMENC, and looks forward to working with the many individuals who make this organization successful.

Web Chair:

Sarah Smokay

Originally from Orlando, Sarah Smokay is a senior at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. Her emphasis is voice. Currently Sarah is singing with Southeastern's Choir, Disney's Cast Candlelight Choir 2007 in addition to being an active church musician.  She is a member of FCMENC and FEFMEA.  This is Sarah’s second year on the executive board.  She served as historian in 2006.
