Florida Collegiate MENC
President's Message
Summer is here!
Congratulations to all for completing yet another semester of school and reaching a well deserved and anticipated break. A reality in our field is that summer isn’t all fun and games for teachers and is actually a crucial time for planning for the following school year. Not to say that the summer should not be used for relaxation and rest, but it is a great time to start mapping out what your year will be looking like as well as getting new ideas in music and teaching techniques for the future. Thanks to the various other components of FMEA, there are several summer conferences that are open to all collegiate students at little or no registration cost! I highly encourage and recommend that you attend the summer conference presented by your area component. I was able to attend all of the summer conferences last year with the exception of FBA and I have to say it was a great addition to my summer plans. The conferences not only gave me an insight to what music teachers across our state do during their summer months but I learned something new in every conference regardless of my area of concentration. Even though I am a vocalist and plan on teaching choir, I learned things in the FOA, FVA and FEMEA conferences that I will be able to use in my choral class. Don’t miss out on these great opportunities that are available to you as collegiate students!
Please check out our links to the component websites and forms for more information on the summer conferences under the Up-to-date section of this website.
In addition to great conferences, the summer also brings the new FCMENC State Executive Board. As you know the members you elected at the January Conference , will begin their terms in May. I would like to thank this year’s board for their hard work and dedication to this organization and for contributing to the growth and betterment of FCMENC.
As my time as your President comes to a close I would like to thank all of you for giving me the opportunity to serve you this year. I hope I have made some small difference in improving and propelling FCMENC forward.Respectfully,
David Verdoni
