Membership

The very bedrock of FEMEA is its membership.  In fact, if only one reason could be given for the existence of the association, it would be for service to the membership.  Who is or is not a member of the association speaks volumes about an individual's concern and commitment toward music and music education and about the association's credibility in representing the music education profession.

As a component unit of the Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA), members of the Florida Elementary Music Educators Association (FEMEA) must be members of FMEA and MENC:  The National Association of Music Educators.

Membership begins on July 1 and expires on June 30 of the following year.  Dues must be current to insure participation in the January Clinic-Conference.

Membership enrollment or renewal forms are mailed to all current members in early spring in time to renew before the school year ends.  A second notice is then sent in August to all those who have not yet renewed.  A final notice is sent in October.  This membership renewal form also appears in the August issue of the Florida Music Director.  On line membership renewal is strongly encouraged.

All membership dues should be paid to FMEA.

Several categories of membership are offered:

Active Membership:
Any individual who is engaged in teaching, supervising, or administering music in the elementary schools of Florida.

Retired Membership:
Former FEMEA members now retired may participate in Association activities with all the privileges of active membership except the right to hold office or vote.

Student Membership:
Any student of music education at the college level who is not currently employed in the profession.

Lifetime Membership:
Awarded to past presidents of the association following the end of their term of office as President.
