Music Education

The Industry of Creativity!

When we think of creative industries, music is at the forefront.  Leading education specialists have predicted that the work force of tomorrow will need to have both left and right brain development in order to compete in a global market.  It is believed that those with the ability to think creatively will lead the United States in global competition.  Therefore, the 2011 FMEA and FEMEA conference theme will focus on The Industry of Creativity.  Sessions will make connections to developing creativity in our students.  Four nationally acclaimed clinicians have been confirmed to present for FEMEA in Tampa.  You’ll want to be in Tampa to see Susan Brumfield, Betty Hillmon, co-presenters Rick Layton & Jacque Schrader, and more!

Annual Clinic-Conference General Information
The FMEA Annual In-Service Clinic-Conference is probably the highlight of the year for many members and has grown over the years to one of the largest state music educators' conventions in the nation.  It is one of the more visible activities of FMEA and has the distinction of being the only activity mandated in FMEA's constitution.  It has traditionally been held in early January, generally on the first of second weekend of the month.

The guiding philosophy behind the Clinic-Conference is to meet the objectives of the association, namely the advancement of music education in Florida and the in-service education of music teachers.  FEMEA , like the other components, conducts workshop and clinics to improve teachers' skills, to inform them of the latest materials available, and to inform and motivate music educators to activey participate in the many public and politial activities that affect music education.

The large number of exhibits presented at the Clinic-Conference provides immediate and first-hand access to the many suppliers of music, instruments, activities, fund raising opportunities, college and university programs, and other related items.
