Dr. Kenneth Williams 

Kenneth Williams, a native of Florida, is the instrumental music specialist for Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, Fla. He holds the B.A. in music education and the M.A. in conducting from the University of South Florida and the Ph.D. in music education from Florida State University. Dr. Williams is in his 41st year as a teacher of music. He has conducted bands and orchestras at the middle school, high school, university and professional levels. He has served on the faculties of Booker School, Sarasota High School and the Sarasota Visual and Performing Arts Center, all in Sarasota, Fla. He conducted band and orchestra at Winter Park High School and was a member of the conducting faculty of the LaVilla School of the Arts in Jacksonville. Dr. Williams also taught at Florida State College at Manatee, Tallahassee Community College, Florida State University and, more recently, the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he served as chair of music education and conductor of the UTSA Symphonic Band. Along the way, he filled the posts of associate conductor of the Florida West Coast Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Tallahassee Symphony Youth Orchestra and conductor of the San Antonio Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Cannon Music Camp Orchestra of Appalachian State University. Dr. Williams is the president of FSMA and a member of the FMEA Legislative Committee. He is a longstanding member of the FBA Concert Music Committee and leads the retraining of veteran adjudicators for the FBA Adjudication Training Program. He has often had the privilege of serving as concert adjudicator and clinician at FBA and FOA state MPAs. He has served as a guest conductor and clinic presenter at The Midwest Clinic: An International Band and Orchestra Conference (Chicago). Articles by Dr. Williams can be found in Florida Music Director, the Glaesel/Selmer newsletter, Band World, NBA Journal and Music Educators Journal. He is active as a conductor, clinician and adjudicator.
