The meeting was called to order at 10:00AM

2. Introduction of Membership

Each member stood up and introduced themselves

3. Reading of Previous Minutes

MOTION: (Figeac/Castellano) To dispense with the reading of the previous meeting minutes. MOTION PASSED

4. Treasury Report

Balance on hand: $11,587.12

This total includes photographer donation.

  4. Several members voiced a concern about status of the classification proposal.

Members were reminded to turn in all festival information (disk, check, and hard copy of festival sheets) immediately following the meeting.

      Jazz Bands – Friday, Feb. 22

      Indoor Guards – Saturday, Feb. 23

      CHANGES IN SOLO AND ENSEMBLE TITLES MUST BE TURNED IN TO DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON ON OR BEFORE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2002. CHANGES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THAT DATE.

    3. High School Concert Festival
    4. North Fort Myers High School

      March 15-16, 2002

    5. Middle School Concert Festival

Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts

March 21-22, 2002

 

CHANGES IN CONCERT FESTIVAL TITLES MUST BE TURNED IN TO DISTRICT CHAIRPERSON ON OR BEFORE SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2002. CHANGES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AFTER THAT DATE.

 

** Scheduling of Concert Festival will be by size within classification. Requests for a specific date will be honored on a first request basis, time permitting.

 

** Program information MUST be submitted to district chair on or before

February 23, 2002.

 

** Mark Dahlberg at Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts will record the HS Concert, MS Concert, and Jazz Band festivals this year. Mark will send information to the membership regarding the recordings.

An adjudicator list for all of the festivals was provided to the membership.

  1. State Festival Dates
    1. Solo and Ensemble Festival
    2. Bartram Trail High School

      April 1-3, 2002 (Includes Jazz Band and Auxiliaries)

      The membership asked about the possibility of scheduling a North and South site for S&E State festival next year. Many schools will be unable to participate due to the cost of travel.

    3. Concert Festival

South: April 24-27, 2002 Cypress Lake High School Center for the Arts

Central: April 29-May2, 2002 Florida Southern College, Lakeland

North: May 3,4,6,7,2002 Florida A&M University, Tallahassee

High School Directors: Please contact the Executive Director if do not receive you State Festival entry bulletin by early March.

  2. MOTION (Mallery/Dahlberg) To request November 2, 2002 as the Marching Festival date. MOTION PASSED

    MOTION (Reaney/Dahlberg) To request February 21 and 22, 2003 as the Solo and Ensemble Festival date. MOTION PASSED

    MOTION (Dahlberg/Figeac) To request March 7& 8, 2003 as the 1st choice HS Concert Festival date. MOTION PASSED

    MOTION (Dahlberg/Figeac) To request March 14& 15, 2003 as the 2nd choice HS Concert Festival date. MOTION PASSED

    MOTION (Reaney/Castellano) To request April 10 & 11, 2003 as the MS Concert Festival date. MOTION PASSED

  6. MOTION (Dahlberg/Figeac) To request that there be a North and South site for S&E State Festival in 2003. MOTION PASSED

    MOTION (Reaney/Dubbert) To request that reading sessions at convention have music played in its entirety. MOTION PASSED

    MOTION (Gillet/Dahlberg) To request that there be All State audition music selected specifically for the bass trombone audition. MOTION PASSED

  7. Good of the Association
    1. The membership thanked CLHSCA for the meeting goodies.
    2. The next district Meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at 7:00 PM at Lehigh Senior High School.
    3. All County Band Concerts for Charlotte, Collier, and Lee Counties are on January 26, 2002
