ITEM NO. 6            Unfinished Business:

Fred Schmidt has stepped down as the All-State Chairman.  There was discussion and explanation of the assessment.  Members in the district didn’t understand how our assessment was determined.  The confusion occurred due to the fact that we brought in $1,500 more at the gate this year, but yet our assessment still went up a dollar.

Tim Paul explained the mentoring program that Polk County is using and suggested it as an idea for the future.  It was stated that their idea didn’t have to be used, but all of us need to stick together and work with each other to continue to educate others about the importance of music education, i.e. band.  Suggestions for next year can be brought up at the next meeting.

*Kelly wanted to thank Aaron for assisting her with the HS folders for the District Band.

*Clinics at FMEA were better this year than last!!

*The 7th & 8th grade All-State concerts were amazing.  It was the best 7th & 8th grade concert in years.

*The Gillingham piece was very good and should be added to the FBA list.  The clinic he gave was extremely interesting not only to see the piece evolve, but he actually places a story to music.

*Congratulations to Tim Paul and the Leon Band for being accepted to perform at the CBDNA/NBA Southern Division Convention held in Atlanta during the third week of February.
