ITEM NO. 1 - CALL TO ORDER AND INTRODUCTORY REMARKS: The third meeting of the year was called to order by District Chairman, Paul Wilson, at 7:00pm.

ITEM NO. 2 - ROLL CALL AND INTRODUCTION OF NEW DIRECTOR'S AND GUESTS: John LaCognatta briefly introduced Joel Moody, the new associate band director of Winter Park High School. Attendance was handled via a sign up sheet.

ITEM NO. 3 - READING OF PREVIOUS MINUTES: There were no objections or changes to the previous minutes, so they stood approved as distributed.

ITEM NO. 4 - TREASURER'S REPORT:

Current bank balance - $18,216.53

ITEM NO. 5 - COMMUNICATIONS:

ITEM NO. 6 - UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

ITEM NO. 7 - COMMITTEE REPORTS

New Concert sheets are in effect this year. A format change is included. Bill Reinicke pointed out that the plus and minuses on the new sheets are still within a particular letter grade. Lee Sellers also clarified that the minus signified lower on a particular letter grade and a plus signified higher within that grade.

ITEM NO. 8 - NEW BUSINESS:

    1. S&E MPA Information
    1. High School S&E schedules were passed out. The guard is cancelled.
    2. High School S&E Title changes are due to Paul Wilson January 29. No S&E title changes will be accepted after that date.
    3. Middle School forms are due February 1. MS S&E Title changes are due to Paul Wilson February 11. MS Jazz Band titles need to be given to Abby Powell ASAP. 407-245-1800-279
    1. High school Concert MPA, Feb. 28-March 1,2 at Winter Park High School (There are too many 1st choice requests for Friday for everyone to get 1st choice.)
    2. At the HS S&E you must list your concert titles. Final concert title change deadline is Feb. 18, but must be sooner if you want it correct in the program.

    3. MS Concert MPA, April 4,5,6 at West Orange High School
    4. Final schedule should be ready by MS S&E. Title need to be ready by then. Concert title change deadline - March 25, but needs to be sooner if you want it correct in the program.

    5. Jeff Jordan of Olympia High School requests that his Concert band perform in the Concert MPA for comments only. Motion to approve by Lee Sellers/Bill Reinicke PASSED
    6. Paul Wilson of Edgewater High School requests that his 3rd band perform at the Concert MPA for comments only. Motion to approve by Lee Sellers/Bill Reinicke PASSED
    7. Brian Nichols of Hunter's Creek Middle School requests that his 3rd band perform at the Concert MPA for comments only. Motion to approve by Lee Sellers/Missie Ellis PASSED

ITEM NO. 12 – NOMINATIONS TO ADJUDICATOR LIST

Dan Belognia nominated Chris Sharp, composer/arranger to the Jazz adjudicator list. It was suggested that Chris also be nominated to the brass S&E list so he could be more marketable. With an overwhelming majority, the district members voted to have Chris Sharp added to the Jazz adjudicator list.

ITEM NO. 13 - NOMINATE CLINICIANS FOR ALL-STATE BANDS

    1. Skip Perry of Piedmont Lakes MS to do the All-State Middle School Jazz Band.
    2. Mark Ellis of Apopka HS to do the All-State Middle School Jazz Band.
    3. Russ Weaver of Parkway MS in Osceola County to do the All-State Middle School Jazz Band.
    4. Dr. Gordon Brock of University of North Florida to do All-State 9th-10th or 11th-12th Concert Bands.
    5. Dr. Jeff Jordan of Olympia HS to do All-State 9th-10th or 11th-12th Concerts Bands.

ITEM NO. 14 PROPOSALS TO THE EXECUTIVE BOARD None

ITEM NO. 15 GOOD OF THE ASSOCIATION

    1. Jeanie Berry and Bill Reinicke will co-chair the MS Band student participation in next year's Marching MPA.
    2. May 1st the Air Force Band will perform at First Baptist Church.
    3. March 4th the Concordia University Wind Symphony will perform at Lake Highlands. For more info go to www.lphs.org.
    4. Bernie Hendricks passed out packets on the FAMU summer band camp. We can get group discount for our students that want to go. Call Bernie at Robinswood MS for more info.
    5. Dr. Jeff Jordan needs to be emailed immediately for any percussion needs for HS S&E.
