Students! Text @amumar to 81010 to connect to the AMU Music Department or find us on Instagram at @amumarchingband. Discover new friendships, perform under the Saturday night stadium lights, and become an integral part of tradition within campus life with AMU Marching Band. In addition to academic scholarships, students who sign on to attend AMU on a marching band scholarship may be awarded up to $5,000 per academic year,  in addition to any other music department scholarships they may receive including organ, piano and voice scholarships. Students may rent instruments free of charge. We have acquired all new Yamaha brass and drum line instruments as well as some from the inventory of Carolina Crown. Outside of marching band, our students engage in performing for basketball games, cross country meets, soccer games and other athletic events. Performances also include a variety of Catholic festivities including All Saint’s Day, and Feast of Annunciation. Students have the opportunity to take private lessons for credit, music theory, composition, music history, aural skills and participate in a variety or chamber choirs and community orchestras as well. With the development of the program, the Ave Maria University Marching Band will be performing at  Florida invitationals and championships in exhibition as well as trips to Disney for Christmas time parades.

 

Ave Maria is located 35 minutes east of Naples where students enjoy weekend trips to the gulf coast beaches or just under 2 hours east they find themselves in Miami. Ave Maria boast some beautiful land just slightly North of the Everglades National Park. By a 3 hour ferry, students enjoy excursions to Key West during spring and holiday breaks. On a campus of nearly 1200 students, life at Ave is a very intimate experience with exceptional support from professors and many opportunities to serve in faith. Virtual Audition Dates:

Sat., February 6, 2021 – application deadline is Fri., January 22, 2021 

Sat., March 13, 2021 – application deadline is Fri., February 26, 2021 

Sat., April 10, 2021 – application deadline is Fri. March 26, 2021

The audition process consists of a vocal, instrumental or piano performance, sight reading on your instrument or voice, taking the Music Theory Diagnostic Exam or Transfer Music Theory Placement Exam, and taking the Class Piano Placement Exam if you listed four or more years of piano lessons or you’re a transfer student that has taken Class Piano on the college level.

Auditions are required for all music majors.  At the time of the audition, students are evaluated for talent-based scholarships, which are renewable for four years of study.  We also offer non-music majors the opportunity to participate in our ensembles, with scholarships available.

The UCF School of Performing Arts comprises the music and theatre programs at the University of Central Florida. For over 50 years, UCF has been a leader in music education in Florida and has grown to be a nationally and internationally recognized school to study music. Our world-class faculty are dedicated to helping students prepare for careers in the music industry with one-on-one instruction, ensemble participation, networking opportunities and guest artist master classes.


UCF Music has a valuable partnership with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, to provide  performance and learning opportunities for our students. We are also home to our own record label, Flying Horse Records, producing chart-topping records for the Flying Horse Big Band and other ensembles at UCF. Our school is now home to the state-of-the-art Center for Multimedia Composition, providing a place for students to be on the cutting edge of creating new music.  Students also have international opportunities with Mahidol University in Thailand and our partner, Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.

Bachelor of Music, Music Performance | This track is for students dedicated to pursuing a career in music performance from symphonies to opera and beyond. Students will work closely with our world-class faculty and have opportunities to participate in a variety of ensembles.

Bachelor of Music, Jazz Studies | Our jazz students have many performance opportunities and perfect their craft with some of the top jazz faculty in the country. UCF is home to Flying Horse Records and the chart-topping Flying Horse Big Band.

Bachelor of Music, Composition | UCF student composers come from many backgrounds, and this is evident in the exciting and diverse music they create. Whether writing for the concert hall or for film, television or video games, our students pride themselves on their dedication to craft, openness to new ideas and meaningful interaction with listeners.

Bachelor of Music Education | This degree prepares students for a career teaching the next generation of musicians. The BME meets the educational eligibility criteria for certification in Music (K-12) in the State of Florida. We advise all applicants to visit music.ucf.edu for full details on certification. In addition to ensemble participation and core music coursework, students will take courses in music, general education and music education and have opportunities to gain real-world experience through internships and field placements.

Bachelor of Arts, Music | The B.A. program is perfect for students wanting a foundation to pursue a career or further study in musicology, arts administration, music history, music criticism, music therapy and more.  This degree has a liberal arts emphasis and flexible curriculum. 

Master of Arts, Music | This advanced degree is designed to meet the personalized needs and interests of students. The flexible curriculum accomodates study in music education, performance, composition, jazz studies, conducting, music history and with either full-time or part-time enrollment to fit your schedule. Some assistantships are availalbe for full-time graduate students in music.

The University of West Florida recently announced the naming of the Dr. Grier Williams School of Music.  The promotion of our department to a named school is the result of a major donation; this gift is the largest in the university’s 53-year history and comes with many benefits such as increased scholarship opportunities, the ability to implement curriculum changes, and implement much growth in the near future.  We invite you to visit with us January 16, 2:00-5:00pm EST. 

We offer three specialized degrees:  BM Performance, BME Music Education, and BA Music with an Outside Field.
