The UCF School of Performing Arts comprises the music and theatre programs at the University of Central Florida. For over 50 years, UCF has been a leader in music education in Florida and has grown to be a nationally and internationally recognized school to study music. Our world-class faculty are dedicated to helping students prepare for careers in the music industry with one-on-one instruction, ensemble participation, networking opportunities and guest artist master classes.
UCF Music has a valuable partnership with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, to provide performance and learning opportunities for our students. We are also home to our own record label, Flying Horse Records, producing chart-topping records for the Flying Horse Big Band and other ensembles at UCF. Our school is now home to the state-of-the-art Center for Multimedia Composition, providing a place for students to be on the cutting edge of creating new music. Students also have international opportunities with Mahidol University in Thailand and our partner, Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
Bachelor of Music, Music Performance | This track is for students dedicated to pursuing a career in music performance from symphonies to opera and beyond. Students will work closely with our world-class faculty and have opportunities to participate in a variety of ensembles.
Bachelor of Music, Jazz Studies | Our jazz students have many performance opportunities and perfect their craft with some of the top jazz faculty in the country. UCF is home to Flying Horse Records and the chart-topping Flying Horse Big Band.
Bachelor of Music, Composition | UCF student composers come from many backgrounds, and this is evident in the exciting and diverse music they create. Whether writing for the concert hall or for film, television or video games, our students pride themselves on their dedication to craft, openness to new ideas and meaningful interaction with listeners.
Bachelor of Music Education | This degree prepares students for a career teaching the next generation of musicians. The BME meets the educational eligibility criteria for certification in Music (K-12) in the State of Florida. We advise all applicants to visit music.ucf.edu for full details on certification. In addition to ensemble participation and core music coursework, students will take courses in music, general education and music education and have opportunities to gain real-world experience through internships and field placements.
Bachelor of Arts, Music | The B.A. program is perfect for students wanting a foundation to pursue a career or further study in musicology, arts administration, music history, music criticism, music therapy and more. This degree has a liberal arts emphasis and flexible curriculum.
Master of Arts, Music | This advanced degree is designed to meet the personalized needs and interests of students. The flexible curriculum accomodates study in music education, performance, composition, jazz studies, conducting, music history and with either full-time or part-time enrollment to fit your schedule. Some assistantships are availalbe for full-time graduate students in music.
