Dayna Cole 

Dayna Cole has had a very successful career as a band director in South Florida and recently retired after 38 years in the classroom. She has spent the last 26 years as the Band Director at the City of Pembroke Pines Charter Middle School, West Campus. During her tenure as the Band Director at PPCMS West, her Concert Bands earned Superior ratings for 25 years.

It was 49 years ago that Mrs. Cole played in the Junior High All State Band as a student at Lauderhill Middle School. She attended Piper High School where her Band Director was Cynthia Berry. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Miami where she studied with John Kinyon, Alfred Reed, and William Russell. Mrs. Cole earned her Master’s Degree in Music Education from The Florida State University where she studied with Bentley Shellahamer, James Croft, and Clifford Madsen.

After earning her Master’s Degree, Mrs. Cole was the Band director at North Miami Senior High School and Jose Marti Middle School before accepting the position of Band director at PPCMS West.

Mrs. Cole has served Florida Bandmasters Association as the District 15 Secretary and Chair, the Junior High/Middle School Representative, Chair of the Solo & Ensemble Music Committee, on the Clinics and MPA Committees, and an Adjudicator. In 2016 Mrs. Cole conducted the Florida Middle School Honor Band and has been the Guest Conductor for several All-County Bands throughout the state of Florida. She is the recipient of numerous 5-Year Superior Awards, the Oliver Hobbs Award, is a Life Member of Sigma Alpha Iota and Tau Beta Sigma, and is a member of Phi Beta Mu.

Most importantly, she has been married to her husband, Michael, for 32 years. Together, they love to spend time with their daughter - Jaymie, their son-in-law – DJ, and their two dogs – Taylor and Maggie.
