James M. DesJardins 

James M. DesJardins holds a B.M. from SUNY College at Buffalo and a M.M. from
SUNY College at Fredonia, both in Music Education. He has also earned specialized
certifications from the University of St. Thomas and from SUNY Buffalo, in Orff-
Schulwerk and Music Learning Theory, respectively. He has taught classroom music
and chorus in Upstate New York since 2006, and he is a registered Music Together
teacher.
Mr. DesJardins is highly involved in the music education community at local, state and
national levels. He has served as a board member for his local chapter of the American
Orff-Schulwerk Association, and he has been the Classroom Music Festival Co-Chair for
the Erie County Music Educators Association since 2010. He is a frequent honors
ensemble adjudicator, guest conductor, conference presenter and guest lecturer on the
topic of elementary music education and choral studies. He was the 2017 recipient of the
ECMEA/Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Award for Excellence in Music Education.
Mr. DesJardins remains active in many creative endeavors. He is a published
composer/arranger with Carl Fischer Music and Boosey and Hawkes. He has served as
composer in residence for the Buffalo Niagara Youth Chorus. He was a featured
composer in the Harmonia “Echoes of the Present” living composer concert series. His
choral works have been performed by choruses around the world, including the Florida
All State Festival. He has been a church musician and soloist for over three decades. He
offers music resources at ElementaryMusicTeacher.com. And he enjoys exploring his
city with his wife, Julienne, and their son, Luke.
