Come play in activities focused on the basic building blocks of movement: flow, weight, space, and time. This activity-filled session will highlight how to plan and create engaging experiences that lay the foundation for students’ creative movement vocabularies, focusing on preschool children with opportunities for simplification
and extension.

Whitney Mayo
University Of North Dakota
Assistant Professor of Music Education
Dr. Whitney Mayo, assistant professor of music education at the University of North Dakota, has nine years of early childhood and elementary teaching experience in public and community music school settings. Her work focuses on early childhood and elementary music, rural music education, and equity of access to music.
Dr. Mayo teaches courses in undergraduate and graduate music education. Her work has been published in journals including the International Journal for Music Education, International Journal of Music in Early Childhood, UPDATE: Applications of Research in Music Education, Music Education Research, and Arts Education Policy Review. She has presented at numerous state, national, and international conferences.
