Explore the possibilities of using poetry as creative inspiration, compositional source material,
and frameworks for collaborative composition in the elementary music classroom. Inspired by the Orff approach, this session will provide ideas and strategies for using poetry as a springboard for creative music and movement activities.

Asst. Prof. of Music Education
Sandra Adorno is an assistant professor at Florida International University. She attended the San Francisco International Orff Course 1-3 and serves on the editorial board of The Orff Echo. Sandra has directed elementary honors Orff ensembles around South Florida and presented at AOSA National conference and various state and chapter workshops. She is published in Music Educators Journal, Reverberations: Teachers Teaching Teachers, Florida Music Director, and Smithsonian Folkways’ Tools for Teaching.
